About Aloha Moments
Aloha is a Hawaiian word meaning love, friendship, compassion, and charity, as well as, in its roots, "the joyful sharing of loving energy in the present moment." For this reason the Hawaiians also use the same word for happy greetings and farewells.
Its deeper meaning is “the joyful (oha) sharing (alo) of life energy (ha) in the present (alo). As you share this energy, you become attuned to the universal power that the Hawaiians call Mana. And the loving use of this incredible power is the secret for attaining true health, happiness, prosperity and success.
Love and compassion are two strong elements that create this nurturing experience. As a Lomi Lomi therapist, this “aloha” philosophy becomes a way of life, and is not regarded as just a massage.
A recent personal experience, inspired me to create this “Aloha Moments” page. In December 2015, Soulrevive created its first fundraising session to assist a cancer patient and his family. This cancer patient had expressed his difficulty with his battle against cancer and had almost lost his life 3 times in 2015.
Sadly, this patient had a fall and broke his hip early in 2015 and was having problems healing and recovering from his accident in addition to fighting the cancer. He expressed his financial difficulty as the cost of his medication exceeded $10,000 for one treatment pack and as a result of his fall he was not able to work. It became clear very quickly that he would not be able to experience a nice Christmas with his family.
I felt a strong desire to help and decided to create a raffle event to donate the proceeds of the raffle to his family to help them experience some joy in the midst of their battles. The raffle competition was created for the winner to receive a full 1.5hr Lomi Lomi Massage.
Living the aloha way, is to contribute to the greater consciousness. Although I was unsure of the level of interest I would recive towards the raffle, I received an overwhelming response from clients, friends and family wanting to support and help by donating or participating in the raffle event. The raffle raised 3 times the amount I expected!! To add to my excitement, I approached a local fish and chip shop “Feast on Fish” at Carindale and asked if they would like to contribute to this random act of kindness by donating the cancer patient his favourite Christmas feast of prawns. Without hesitation, Steve from Feast on Fish created a divine pack of his infamous prawns to give as part of the donation.
When I surprised the unsuspecting family with the proceeds and prawns, they were overwhelmed with heartfelt gratitude. The thought alone that somebody cared enough to go to such effort, created a flow of tears. Then the enormity of love they felt from complete strangers giving generously and participating in the raffle for their cause was what I like to convey as a “heartprint moment”. An act of unconditional love, can have a ripple effect beyond one’s comprehension.
This soulreviving moment is one special experience that has created the essence of “aloha” momentum for all those who participated. Whilst we may be one drop in the ocean, as the saying goes, it all has a ripple effect.
It amazes me how the universe will conspire and create the continuum of aloha moments. Like an ocean wave, this one deed had a ripple effect in that the winner of this raffle revealed her own “aloha moment” story. The winner of the raffle was truly amazed to win the competition as she expressed that she had never won anything in her life. She unveiled that earlier in 2015, she was involved in her first fund raising event for a close friend of hers who was brain damaged after her partner physically abused her, resulting in the hospitalisation of the victim. The fundraising cause for her friend was broadcasted throughout the media and raised more than enough funds to assist the victim in receiving the medical attention that she required.
When I learned of the winner’s story, I marvelled in the magic of this direct manifistation/the law of attraction and felt a strong sense of gratitude to be able to gift her with a much deserved Lomi Lomi for her “aloha” contribution.
I look forward to consciously creating more aloha moments for 2016. If you have your own aloha moment story to share, I would love to hear from you to share the aloha spirit with our Lomi Lomi friends/community.
Mahalo (thank you) and keep shining,
Ruth @ Soulrevive
